The Sami Sarong
When choosing to include a sarong in the June collection, I was excited by the idea of having something so versatile and wearable for all different occasions. The color and print of this 100% organic cotton sarong is sure to be a fun pop of personality wherever you wear it!
When shooting this garment, we made sure to have the models tie it numerous ways– as tops, a mini skirt, and as a coverup for days at the beach. I love seeing it styled in the photo above. It is elegant when paired with the Mary Jane’s and our Anna Midi Skirt. Yet it is also so fresh and playful and offers the outfit an airy flair! I cannot wait to throw this sarong in a suitcase or beach bag this summer. Paired with the Elissa Mini Skirt, it makes for the perfect vacay look. For vacations, it is great to throw over a swimsuit during the day and can easily transition into a dinner look for the evenings!
The Sydney
I wanted there to be something for everyone in this collection. The Uma Blouse is one of the most whimsical, feminine pieces of June so the collection needed an alternative. I sought to juxtapose the whimsy of the Uma with something more understated, chilled and modern.
The Sydney Oxford Shirt does that for me. It is understated and undeniably classic. It is chilled and oversized (taking your regular size will still appear baggy and relaxed). It is also modern and I love the addition of the double cuff. There is something so visually appealing about it. It is a playful element added to an inherently classic silhouette. I’ve already managed to style this blouse in so many ways– for the office, for dinner, for a presentation. The possibilities are numerous!
The Uma Blouse
As previously stated, this blouse is one of the most whimsical pieces in June’s collection. Each time I put it on, I find new details that make me smile. The pleating along the collar and cuffs allows the garment to feel fresh and crisp, while the ribbon detailing introduces a touch of delicacy. I love the mismatched buttons that allow it to feel a bit more casual and relaxed.
Of all the pieces in this first collection, the Uma Blouse remains one of my favorites. It is a piece that will satisfy any stage of life. Wear it with a pair of pleated trousers and you’ve got a timelessly feminine office look. Style it with your favorite midi or maxi skirt, you’ll look elegant and sophisticated. A pair of denim cut offs, the ribbon untied and the top button undone will feel just whimsical enough for a fun concert or lunch by the beach!
The Elissa
I’ll admit it, I’m biased toward midi skirts. However, even I know that you can do no wrong with a great mini!
I love the addition of this buttery yellow mini skirt to June’s collection. It serves as a grounding piece among the collection’s flowing, pleated and ruffled styles. It is clear-cut and classic. The tweed material allows it to feel elevated and hold its structure. The front darts and welt pockets also introduce a sense of distinction.
I love it paired with the Uma Blouse. There’s an artful juxtaposition of whimsy with modernity; creativity with class. When paired with the Sami Summer Sarong, it feels young, airy and playful.
The Minnie Set
During the dreaming and designing process of building Miele, I found myself often thinking of Audrey Hepburn’s role in Roman Holiday. I think that this set is what I would wear if I wanted to embody a modern Audrey.
The blouse features a rounded hem– it can be tucked or left loose & looks great either way. The skirt has a wrapped detailing at the waist that naturally cinches you in and serves as an interesting place for a viewer’s eye to rest. Minimal pleats throughout the skirt allow it to feel both voluminous & luxurious. I personally love the bow detailing at the front of the top. Such a refreshing touch!
The Anna Midi Skirt
The Anna Midi Skirt is a style that you just cannot go wrong with. It is simple and elegant, modern and refined. It is the most basic, versatile piece in the June collection. I have worn it both to dinner and a work event. I cannot wait for the opportunity to wear it on vacation this summer, paired with our Sami Sarong.
I love the lightweight material, it is perfect for summer!
It does not cling or stick & it falls beautifully off the body. The silhouette is modest and feminine. Pair it with a colorful blouse for a fun summer evening or a more refined top for business casual attire.
The Maybrie
I love the print on this dress! It’s a pop of color without being too bold. The green and blue work so well on the flat, white canvas underneath. The balloon sleeves and long, flowy tiers allow it to feel truly romantic.
I was working from an airplane, somewhere over the Atlantic, on the way home from London. I spent the flight browsing look books and catalogs looking for a dress with hyper feminine elements. I wanted a print (preferably floral) and other dainty elements. After adding this dress to the spreadsheet of styles I’d already ordered, I saw how well it complimented the other designs. I had basics, as well as black and white options– I craved color and pattern and whimsy. I think this dress works perfectly!
The Mercer
Another dress that was chosen while 30,000 feet above ground. When scrutinizing the pieces I’d already curated for the June collection, I knew I needed color and a few pieces that felt more romantic and girly. Other styles in the collection felt elegant and refined in a fresh way. I wanted a style that felt sweet and friendly.
I adore the seersucker print on this mini dress. The embellished peter pan collar is just what the dress needs. This style is perfect for summer days spent in a pair of sneakers, vacation dinners paired with espadrilles, or church on a Sunday morning with your favorite pair of Mary Janes.
The James Blanket
The coziest piece of the June collection! I adore the James Blanket jacket. Worn over your pj’s, your swimsuit, or your evening wear– it is amazing. When packing a suitcase for summer vacation, I’ll pack this second only behind the Sami Sarong. It is elevated and elegant yet so comfortable by nature. Each garment is hand dyed so no two jackets will look exactly the same; it will truly be your own.
Wear it on a chilly office day or in the morning with coffee. Stay warm on the shore for an early morning beach walk or cozy at night in the bed. Throw it over a damp swimsuit on the boat or dress it up out to brunch or dinner. Wear it while getting ready with your bridesmaids. Look elegant and elevated on your next red eye flight! This jacket is sure to serve every purpose you can imagine, I promise!
The Birdie
The final piece in the June collection and possibly one of my favorites! For someone who wants a bit more structure and versatility, the Birdie is a great alternative to the James Blanket.
I loved having the models roll the sleeves to keep things relaxed and styled. In the photo above, we styled the green Birdie with the Mercer Mini by clasping the top button to hide the peter pan collar underneath. I adore the fresh green pattern layered over the light pink pinstripes. The look is so dainty! I’ve also worn the blue color way to church by pairing it with silky, sage green trousers and a plain white tee. Wear the Birdie with denim cutoffs in the summer or your favorite pair of jeans come fall! You also can’t go wrong by layering it over your favorite maxi dress with a pair of espadrilles!
